The flight to Japan took 11 hours - it could have been 11 light years just as well. Even if it sounds like a cliché I can't help but thinking of it this way: it's a world of its own. I am only so happy to have experienced this world in autumn.
The background is one of two engravings Bateau Japonais from the Atlas du Voyage de la Perouse, Paris, 1797.
La Perouse set sail from France in 1785 to continue the discoveries of Captain Cook. He had been missing since leaving Sydney on February 7, 1788 until the wreck parts of both his ships were found almost 40 years later but his narrative, maps, and views survived and were published in 1797.
